Tips For Easy Outdoor Decorating
What We Added To Our Screened-In Porch
When we built our screened-in porch several years ago, we knew it would be a space our family would use all the time. Over the years, we added furniture and a few decor pieces here and there, but this latest update finally made it feel finished and more like us.
#1 Create Pops Of Color
I knew I needed a little more color to go along with our outdoor couches. New outdoor throw pillows not only added color, but also extra texture and design. I absolutely love this floral pillow. I couldn’t believe how soft these pillows were, given that they were meant for the outdoors.

#2 Add Greenery
Adding greenery helped bring life into the space and made everything feel fresher and finished. I had an old aloe plant that needed a new home, and this colorful yellow plant stand was the perfect addition to the corner of our porch.

#3 Different Light Sources
Last year, we added outdoor Edison bulb string lights, and it made the porch so inviting and cozy at night. I knew adding one more lantern would be a fun, functional accent. There are so many cool solar lights out there that can enhance your outdoor decor without using electricity.

#4 Comfortable Seating
We adore our 3 outdoor loveseats and egg chair on our porch. But we needed a great place to put our feet up. Adding outdoor ottomans or extra poufs (like this jute one) not only provides young kids with a fun place to sit but also a great way to put their feet up after a long day.

#5 Layer Decor and Fun Accents
A few extra pieces tied everything together and made the porch feel intentional instead of thrown together. Seriously, how cool is the citreonella succulent candle, and who doesn’t love fancy shatter-proof glassware?

Before and After
Before, our screened-in porch had all the basics. We had the furniture in place, but it felt a little plain and unfinished. It was missing those cozy details that make a space feel inviting and styled.

After adding just a few new decor pieces, the entire space feels completely different. It is more cozy, more colorful, and finally feels like a space we love spending time in.
